In previous years, the festival Catalog had always had a negative financial impact on the festivals’ funds. For this reason, the brief was presented to me with lack of excitement. The catalog was produced only because it was a legal obligation.
My challenge was to design a catalog which would be more engaging to the public while reducing production costs. To achieve this, the small print-run had to be used to our advantage. It was possible to screen print the covers and work with a local bookbinder to achieve a unique an non-standardized look. I was responsible for project management and art direction and Luís Gomes designed the layout.
The catalog proved to be a success and sold out for the first time.
