When Paul Came over the Sea

The documentary When Paul came over the sea tells the story of an unusual and complicated friendship amid the turbulence of the current refugee situation.
The project is the new film of award winning German documentary director Jakob Preuss (“The other Chelsea – A story from Donetsk”).

I illustrated 5 image sequences, in a total of 31 illustrations that were used to tell the story in moments where no filmed footage was available. The illustrations had to decipt both Paul (the protagonist) and Jakob (the director) realisticly. Furthermore much research was put into the project in order to document the different places accurately.
